Samsung Crescent Racing, whose bikes are equipped with Akrapovic exhausts from Performance Parts Ltd donated a fantastic VIP experience to help raise funds for the annual ‘Day of Champions’ event held at Silverstone on Thursday to support the Riders for Health MotoGP charity.
Team owner Paul Denning was at the event to offer an auction gift on behalf of the Rizla Suzuki MotoGP team and added the one-off BSB package to help increase the funds raised on the day.
The lucky winner and a friend will get the chance to join the Samsung Crescent Suzuki team at a BSB race of their choice to become guests in the team’s garage, and experience close-up all the ins-and-out of a busy race weekend in one of the world’s premier domestic motorcycle championships. They will join John Hopkins, Jon Kirkham and the rest of the squad for an evening meal, as well as getting the chance to join Hopkins for a scooter pillion ride around the track during the weekend. The lucky winner also received two access all a rea passes and the chance for them to visit the grid before the start of the BSB race, and take a flying lap in the BSB Nissan GTR pace-car. This amazing package, also supported by MSVR, created plenty of interest and eventually sold for £2200.

The ‘Day of Champions’ event is a yearly fund raiser held at the British Grand Prix and assists the Riders for Health charity that supports health workers in Africa to reach remote places, through the use of motorcycles. Rizla Suzuki has been a regular supporter of the charity at the UK event and also at similar auctions in Spain and America. This year the team offered a VIP day including a scooter ride on the back of Álvaro Bautista around the Silverstone circuit during the MotoGP weekend that raised £3100. Bautista also got in on the act and donated his signed boots which he wore during his crash as Qatar earlier in the year – these made a very respectable £500.
Riders for Health’s mission is that the poor of Africa should not suffer and die because of the lack of access to health care and other vital services. It manages and maintains a fleet of motorcycles so that the vehicles do not break down however difficult the conditions that are faced in the delivery of health care and other vital services to rural communities across the continent.
