Maxxis British Championship MotoX action

The Performance Parts Ltd supported Foxwood DB Racing Honda Team returned to Maxxis British Championship action this past weekend at Round 4 of the 2012 season, the event was held in rare warm, sunny conditions at the Milton Park MX Facility on the outskirts of Northampton.

James Cottrell

Qualification went well as James Cottrell finished the session in 13th position.
As race 1 went into the opening James chose a good line and exited it in 3rd place.
James held on to 3rd until lap 3 when he was passed and dropped to 4th. He was putting on a really good showing and held a solid 4th place until the race was near its completion, he succumb to heavy pressure. James finished the race in a great 6th place.

Race 2 saw James get another good start, inside the top 10 in 8th place. A lot over the riders were running very similar pace by now at the hardpack track and passing in this race was at a premium. A small mistake from a rider ahead of James briefly promoted him up to 7th on lap 4, but 2 laps later he found himself loosing a position and returning to 8th, where he would go on to finish the race.

A change to the familiar 3 race format for each class (MX1 and MX2) at this event saw race 3 being held as a lengthened race consisting of the top 20 MX1 riders and top 20 MX2 combined, instantly putting James at a disadvantage as he was up against the more powerful MX1 bikes, but he still managed a decent start and settled in to 18th place on the opening lap. James finished in 18th place, but he was actually the 9th MX2 rider although this didn't matter as the race wasn't being scored as separate classes.

A scorecard of 6th, 8th and 18th gave James 31 points on the day and he came away with 9th overall, and he has jumped up from 14th in the championship to now lie in 10th place at the halfway stage of the season.

Reflecting on the day afterwards James said, 'Today has been a much better day than last time out, I had a 6th, 8th and in the mixed race I had an 18th so I still managed to get some points. I struggled a little in the last race with the heat but I felt good all day and hopefully I can carry this form on into the next race and keep things rolling.'

Podiums and Crashes for Gearlink Kawasaki

Motorpoint British Supersport

Ben Wilson had a steady weekend at the 2.9-mile Snetterton circuit this weekend riding for Gearlink Kawasaki on the Kawasaki Ninja-ZX-6R. After a hard fought first race battle with Jack Kennedy and Glen Richards for the win, he had to settle for third place in the opening 10-lap race. Sadly in the second race Ben was caught up in an incident, which saw him crashing out of the race from sixth place.

Gearlink Kawasaki's Ben Wilson
After a few initial set up problems on a circuit that has never been a strong one for the Gearlink Kawasaki team, Ben managed to qualify in fifth place. He gained an awesome start and was leading by the second corner. He was soon locked in a tight battle with Kennedy and Richards and the trio were exchanging places for the first few laps. They soon settled down into a rhythm and Ben had a few rear grip issues and had to bring the Gearlink Kawasaki home in third.

The second race was just as action packed, Ben once again gained the hole-shot from fourth place on the grid. He had the lead but touched the gravel on the exit to the back straight and he lost at least half a second allowing Richards to sneak through. The race became a 12 bike battle and Ben was sat in sixth place when a rider in front of him slowed drastically and Ben and Luke Jones had no-where to go forcing the pair of them to crash out of the race.

Ben Wilson -
"I'm hugely disappointed with my results this weekend, it was good to get a podium yesterday as we've been struggling all weekend to get the Gearlink Kawasaki set up properly. We made a fair amount of changes over the weekend to try and get things more settled with the bike. We did struggle here last year and we knew we might be on the back foot coming here this season. I couldn't possibly do anything to avoid the crash in race two I became a sandwich and I just had nowhere to go, I'm gutted. I just hope things will change for the better at Knockhill."

Metzeler Superstock 600s

Scott Hudson qualified in 17th place on the grid for the 12-lap race at Snetterton and had been improving on his times all weekend. Despite a low qualifying position he gained a great start and was sitting in 11th after the opening lap by lap four he was up to ninth but had a small crash at Palmer and was unable to re-join and continue in the race due to the new BSB rules.

Scott Hudson- Gearlink Kawasaki Superstock 600
Scott Hudson - "I'm really gutted to have crashed out as I was running well in the race and felt really comfortable on the Gearlink Kawasaki and was eager to get some more good results after Donington. I was enjoying it and riding well and after a good start I was keen to run within the top ten again, the back just came round on me and that was me out. Gutted, I'd like to thank all the Gearlink Kawasaki team for all their hard work this weekend and sorry I couldn't get them a result. I need to get myself sorted during qualifying and try put in a good time to get me a higher place up on the grid."

Team Manager/Owner Michael de Bidaph - "Snetterton has always been a track we've struggled to get a good set up on the Gearlink Kawasaki, we struggled last year also so after many changes this weekend that maybe it was too much to change.

Ben as always has ridden extremely hard all weekend but was suffering with brake problems in the second race today, he just couldn't get the bike stopped and sadly was unable to get a result. I would like to thank all our team sponsors and sorry we couldn't get them a good result. It's been a difficult weekend and we hope to move things forward at the next round.

Scott was riding well during the race but we really need to try and get good times with him during qualifying so it puts him higher up on the grid so he does not have to fight his way through from mid pack to get some good results for the team.

We are still looking for another rider to partner Ben in the British Supersport Championship if anyone is interested then please get in touch with us, e-mail Gearlink@aol.com or call 07900 570900."

SWAN YAMAHA SCORCH TO RACE ONE VICTORY AT SNETTERTON

Swan Yamaha’s Tommy Hill became the first rider to score his second win of the season at the fourth round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship at Snetterton.
Hill had fought his way through from third place on the opening lap to take the lead by lap seven after passing Michael Laverty and Josh Brookes.

Tommy Hill: 2nd win of the season, retired in race 2
The defending champion was then able to edge ahead to claim his second win of the season despite an overheating issue that he calmly overcame and he then looked set to again be in fierce contention in race two. However the issue returned in race two and despite running in second and looking set to challenge to the lead he was disappointingly forced to retire.

Noriyuki Haga continued to get comfortable on the Swan Yamaha at the Norfolk circuit and was able to secure a fourth place finish in the opening race with a determined challenge from his second row start. In race two further improvements had seen the Japanese ace again run in a position to challenge for his second podium finish of the season but he crashed out at Murrays ending his high hopes for race two.

Hill said: “There were six different winners from the first six races so to be the first one to win two is a good feeling. The new rules without the traction control mean you have to ride harder but at the same time you don’t want to push too hard although you know the other guys will be pushing hard too. I knew it would be tough, especially towards the end of the race. When Josh came passed me I was worried that there might be a pack waiting to do the same. I had an issue with water coming up in my face during the race but we got through it. In the second race I had the same issue and I managed to get close to Michael (Laverty) and then I just had to pull in. It is so frustrating as we had made some good changes between races and I think we could have had a good race so I do feel pretty gutted. I suppose that is because it is my passion and I really wanted a double podium today. It has been a weekend of ups and downs; race one was fantastic and now we will regroup and prepare for Knockhill where the Swan Yamaha team will come out fighting.”

Haga: starting to settle nicely on the Swan Yamaha
Haga said: “I am happy with the result we had in race one with fourth but I also at the same time feel a little disappointed because I still couldn’t find the right feeling with the Swan Yamaha and that made it tough. We had worked hard on the suspension during the weekend to get a good feeling from the tyre but we didn’t quite solve it for the first race. We made some changes for race two and the Swan Yamaha was feeling much better, but my crash was just a stupid mistake and I was disappointed as I lost the chance to get a podium finish. I have to apologise to the team and now I am looking forward to getting some better results at Knockhill.”

Laverty takes win at Snetterton

Samsung Honda celebrated wins and podium finishes in both the British Superbike Championship and Superstock 1000 Championship classes at Snetterton, as Michael Laverty became the seventh race winner of the season in the premier class.

Laverty leading: confidence is back
In the opening race Laverty proved that his title campaign is back on track with a solid second place but in race two he made amends to lead from the start to the finish to give the team their second win of the season. Jon Kirkham returned following his high-speed Oulton Park crash, but cruelly was denied a points-scoring result in the first race when he crashed out on the opening lap which put him on the sixth row for the second race. Kirkham fought his way through to twelfth before a mistake dropped him to fourteenth, however the Brands Hatch race winner was happy to score points on his return.

In the Superstock 1000 Championship, Jason O'Halloran took a commanding win from the pole position to score his second victory of the season for the Samsung Honda team. The Australian got a flying start to lead the pack before edging out an advantage to cross the line by just over six seconds at the finish.

Michael Laverty: “We were due a result and after the first races of the season and not breaking into the top five I am relieved that we have finally achieved it today. It wasn’t without drama though as I knuckled down and had a good battle with Tommy (Hill) and Josh (Brookes). I had a collision on the final lap with a slower rider so it was a frantic last lap but I wanted to go better in race two! We made some slight tweaks to the Samsung Honda and it worked awesome; I just knew I needed to make a break and not make any mistakes. On the last lap I was looking at the crowd and really enjoying it, knowing I was the seventh race winner as that is my lucky number. I am really chuffed and to get 45 points out of a possible 50 is a brilliant result and we really are back on track. I have to thank the team for their hard work for us to achieve these podiums as the Samsung Honda Fireblade was working fantastically.”

Jon Kirkham:
“For me this weekend was about scoring points and getting myself back up to speed after the big crash at Oulton Park. It was a steady start to free practice and I was making progress; I missed out on Q3 in qualifying but I was quite happy with 13th which sounds surprising but I just wanted to keep building the speed throughout the weekend and have two good points scoring races. In the first race another rider went underneath me and I went down and I was gutted as it was only the first lap. That left me right down the grid for race two and I was careful over the first few laps to avoid any trouble and then the times really picked up. I was up to twelfth but I ran so wide I was nearly in Norwich and that cost me dearly as it dropped me two places but I am happy to have finished the race and gain more confidence. Since the crash I have been unable to train to my normal level so now I am ready to come back kicking at 100% at Knockhill.”

Jason O’Halloran: “It is fantastic that we have been able to carry the momentum from Donington Park to here and from free practice we only needed to make minor changes. We were in a strong position in the race and my aim was to get a good start and then try and control it from the front. I got the start and then got my head down and managed to make a break; I kept seeing the gap go up and down but I just kept the concentration and it topped off a fantastic weekend for the team.”

Havier Beltran, Team Manager: “We always knew what Michael was capable of and we have worked hard to overcome the problems he had in the opening races. The small chassis changes we have made aren’t massive but he is happier and his confidence showed in the races today. The win for him has been a long time coming and to become the seventh winner in eight races shows just how close the competition is this season. The results today have put him back inside the top six and now we want to continue moving forward and continuing the progress we have made with the Honda Fireblade. JK was unlucky to have had a crash in the first race and in race two he wanted to have a solid finish and he achieved that and I think once he is fully fit at Knockhill we will see more of him again.

“In the Superstock class Jason had a fantastic race and was smooth, controlled and really showed how well the Samsung Honda is working. I am happy with the results he had produced and it is a brilliant result for the Fireblade in the Superstock trim.”

Triple Podium For Smiths Triumph Racing Team At Snetterton

The Smiths Triumph Racing Team experienced another strong weekend at round four of the British Supersport Championship at Snetterton with Aussie Glen Richards claiming second and third in the two races and fellow Australian Billy McConnell scoring second in Sunday's second race. Third team member Luke Mossey was also in contention in both races and was unlucky to leave with just a solitary fourth place finish to his name.

Glen Richards- a good weekend for the OZ man
Riding the Smiths (Gloucester)-prepared Daytona 675s, the trio had a good start to the weekend with all three qualifying inside the top seven, Richards taking pole position and it was him that grabbed the lead off the line in Saturday's 'Sprint' race with Ben Wilson, Jack Kennedy and McConnell close behind. Glen was managing to keep his rivals at bay but Kennedy hit the front on lap four only for Richards to immediately fight back. Positions continued to change hands but it was Kennedy who ultimately prevailed over Glen with Wilson taking third and a charging Mossey fourth. McConnell completed the top five.

The second, longer race on Sunday started at a frenetic pace with just two seconds separating a staggering ten riders. Richards was leading from Kennedy and Mossey as McConnell found himself at the back of the pack but a crash involving Ben Wilson and Luke Jones on lap five was enough to bring the safety car out. Racing resumed on lap eight with seven riders still fighting it out for the victory but it was Richards who led for the majority of the race despite coming under extreme pressure from championship leader Kennedy. Going into the final lap it was still anyone's race but despite a hectic final lap that saw positions changing all the time, it looked like it would be a 1-2 for the team with McConnell leading Richards out of the last corner. Kennedy had different ideas though and drove past the pair to take his second win of the weekend.

There was also disappointment for Royston rider Mossey as he slipped off on the penultimate lap when he was lying in sixth place.

Metzeler National Superstock 600cc Championship rider Johnny Blackshaw also enjoyed a good weekend with the Warrington rider involved in a four-rider dice that lasted the entire 12-lap race. Positions changed with frequent regularity but, at the chequered flag, he had to settle for sixth place with the ten points gained moving him up to tenth overall in the race for the championship.

Another Wizard of Oz- popdium for McConnell

Billy McConnell:  "A bit of a mixed weekend, really. I made a mistake in qualifying and didn't have time to go out on a soft tyre near the end and then in the first race we had a problem with the amplifier on the sighting lap so got a little preoccupied with fixing that and raced on an SC1 when we should have gone for the SC0.  Today's race was awesome though. I was a little frustrated with some of Sam Warren's moves and he pushed me about but I got away from him and got with the boys at the front so it's all good. Happy with the weekend, though a win would have made it a bit better."

Glen Richards:  "I tried to keep out of trouble and I knew I was never going to get away so I didn't get too worried about it I just prepared myself for the last lap. I got past Billy on the second to last corner and he got back and we both went wide and Jack was on the right line so he was lucky and picked up the pieces. That's the way it goes sometimes and that's racing. I'm happy enough, I just needed to beat Jack in that race for the championship, now he's some 30-odd points ahead and it's hard to get those back."

Johnny Blackshaw:  "I had a good race and good points from a tough weekend. We'd not been on the pace all weekend so it was good to be able to get down to decent times in the race. The front end felt absolutely mint and I had a few issues with the rear but then I'd put that down to the high track temperature. I've had a couple of big crashes that have dented my confidence so it's good to get a decent race result under my belt and start building some momentum."

‘Loud but Legal’ Is The Way Forward

Harley Dealer family member fined in France

Recently we got a call from a key member of staff from one of the UK’s Harley-Davidson franchised dealerships. This person was on a mission to equip his own bike as quickly as possible, with a set of EU compliant ‘e’ marked slip-ons, for a fast approaching trip to France. Why? Because a close family member had returned from France the week before, having suffered a 180 Euro fine during a random stop at the hands of the French police, for riding with a non-compliant exhaust system. He had to pay up in Euros, there and then.

Exhaust law exists- EU enforcement now ramping up

To be clear, this penalty was not because of any new ‘French only’ law, such as those recently debated in the motorcycle press- just the application of general EU regulations that have been in place for more than fifteen years.
Remus exhausts- these are loud, and LEGAL!
The point here is that, as Performance Parts Ltd has been stating in recent campaigns to UK dealers, while UK authorities have not been paying much attention to enforcing these regulations, in the last two years their enforcement in mainland Europe has been ramping up alarmingly. In the last two years many EU countries have introduced roadside ‘in service’ exhaust noise testing, using EU approved, portable equipment.

Failure of such a test incurs a fine and often leads to an inspection of the exhaust system for EU conformity as proven through the ‘e’ or ‘E’ mark. Failure here can involve seizure of the machine. So, for the last two years, while the supply of non-compliant exhausts in the UK has continued unabated, fuelled by us as customers asking for these (illegal) options in pursuit of getting the ‘authentic Harley’ sound, the supply of imported, non EU-compliant exhausts into mainland Europe has dropped massively. This is due to the ramifications and subsequent penalties to both supplier and rider.

The regulations being enforced are Europe-wide and therefore cover UK registered machines being ridden in Europe. It is worth noting that In France many franchised dealers have ceased selling aftermarket exhaust equipment without approved markings. You can imagine that no dealer takes the decision to stop such an income stream lightly or without reason.

Beating the System- and being loud, yet legal

For the past twelve months, in respect of this increase in EU enforcement, Simon Picken, Product Development Manager at Performance Parts Ltd (and former Harley-Davidson salesman) has been working in earnest with franchised Harley-Davidson dealerships, independent distributors and HOG chapters throughout the UK and Eire, in promoting to the UK Harley-Davidson riding public, some great EU compliant, ‘e’ marked exhaust options which have removable baffles and which will provide rider peace of mind and security from such threats.

                                                   A loud but legal Remus

Both Remus and Akrapovič manufacture ranges of slip-ons which carry the EU required ‘e’ mark and which cater to 99% of Harley-Davidson models, some going back to the ‘90s. Many Harley-Davidson dealers are now fitting these EU compliant slip-ons to demo bikes so that you can see/hear and evaluate them for yourself.  You can still achieve that authentic Harley sound and moderate it according to circumstance. Check out the options for your bike here: www.performanceparts-ltd.com/harley

Loud, legal and long-lasting exhausts

Akrapovič and Remus both manufacture from stainless steel which is a superior material for quality and longevity of finish, whether chrome or black and both manufacturers offer a two year customer warranty covering manufacturing defects.

Akrapovic Harley Slip-ons
You may think that if you can find some way of reducing the noise on your US-imported system by obstructing the gas flow or by fitting a set of baffles, that you will gain a clean bill of health. Not necessarily. Although this may increase the odds in your favour (i.e. reducing your conspicuity), such action does not provide you with EU compliance. This is signified by the ‘e’ or ‘E’ mark followed by a four digit code, on the equipment itself. The code proves compliance for the model of bike to which the equipment is fitted. These markings regulations have been in force across Europe (covering all EU supplied machines), since January 1996 and ‘e’ or ‘E’ marks have been required on the original equipment from February 1996 (manufacturers usually mark them underneath or on the inward facing surface, to avoid detracting from aesthetics) and MUST be present on any replacement.

Justifying your Decision

One of the reasons for which dealers have found it hard to sell larger numbers of EU compliant slip-ons until recently is because, in the face of non-compliant competition, homologation approval (‘e’ marking) comes at a considerable cost to the manufacturer- something which non-compliant systems avoid. However, despite this, 2011 saw a 36% increase in Remus EU compliant equipment in the UK, as the message that law enforcement tolerance for non-compliant exhausts in Europe is decreasing, despite Europeans themselves being very biker friendly.

In the end the exhaust you buy is an individual choice which will be made by weighing up the facts, but just consider this: how many Euros do you need to keep with you while riding and how many fines do you need to pay before an EU compliant exhaust works for you-  and why would you even risk seizure of a £12,000 + machine when there is a compliant option available, that does everything you want?

O’Halloran Scores First Superstock Win of Season for Samsung Honda

Performance Parts Ltd Sponsored and Samsung Honda's Jason O'Halloran won the opening Superstock 1000 Championship race of the weekend at Donington Park as the team celebrated their first win of the season in the class.

O'Halloran- first!

O'Halloran took the lead into Redgate for the first time ahead of Danny Buchan, Jimmy Storrar and Keith Farmer. He then held off the challenge from Steve Brogan who made a move at Schwantz before O'Halloran took the advantage back into McLeans before Brogan crashed out. O'Halloran held the lead from Storrar to take his first win of the season.

In the second race O’Halloran again got a flying start before suffering with chatter and lack of grip after the opening laps which dropped him to sixth, but holds second in the overall standings ahead of Snetterton in two weeks’ time.

Jason O'Halloran: "It was a good race and we have been feeling happy all weekend with the Samsung Honda. I got a really good start and was able to control it a bit and then I head a bike behind me and to begin with I didn't realise it was Brogan. He came passed me but I managed to get it back at the next corner and then I heard a bike go down and with the messages on my pit board I knew it much have been him. I then just got my head down and it felt good to win. In race two I struggled for rear grip and I knew from about the third lap it was going to be difficult; I tried to hold it for as long as I could but we still scored some good points for the championship and it has been a good weekend for the Samsung Honda team.”

Team Manager, Havier Beltran: “It was a great result to win the first race at Donington Park and it was what the Samsung Honda team have been working so hard for over the opening rounds. Jason and the team are now looking forward to the next round of the championship at Snetterton in two weeks’ time.”

SWAN YAMAHA’S HILL LEADS THE STANDINGS AFTER OULTON PARK TRIPLE HEADER

Swan Yamaha’s Tommy Hill leads the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship standings after the third round at Oulton Park as he followed up his race one win with a podium finish as Noriyuki Haga ended his weekend with a top six result.

Hill: Champ is happy at the top of the pile
In the second race of the weekend Hill was edged out of a podium finish in drying conditions however in the final race Hill was again challenging at the front and after holding the lead for several laps he was forced to settle for second. Haga had a disappointing second race as he suffered with lack of grip in the changeable conditions to finish 13th before fighting his way to sixth place in the final race of the weekend to move to tenth in the overall standings.

Hill said: “It was a frustrating first race with the conditions changing, but it was the same for everyone. Fourth place was not quite a podium but still consistent points for the championship and that is what we need. Fortunately it stayed dry for the last race and the Swan Yamaha was working really well and I dropped a couple of places but just stayed calm and then got into a rhythm. By the time I pulled in Stuart I had used the best of my tyre and it became harder work. Shakey then hunted me down and I tried to defend it but that was the best I had at that stage of the race. I am happy with our results with a win, a fourth and a second place and the championship lead. We probably had the most consistent weekend of all our rivals and that is what is important.”

Tommy Hill

Haga said: “It hasn’t been a bad weekend as we had our first podium finishes but in the second race I had struggled a bit with grip where the conditions changed. In race three I think with a better grid position we could have been higher up the order like in race one. I also made a bad start and then I gave myself work to do and where I pushed to pass the other riders I used my tyre too quickly and then I didn’t have enough for the end of the race. I am happy to have shown our speed this weekend and I think Snetterton we will come back and fight again.”

'Nitro' Nori Haga

Team Owner Shaun Muir concluded: “This weekend we have seen great performances from both riders with Tommy now at the top of the standings and Nori securing his first podium finish. We had a few issues that the team worked hard to overcome and our aim is to come back even stronger at Snetterton.”

Victory At Oulton For Glen Richards

The Smiths (Gloucester) Racing team, supplied and sponsored by Performance Parts Ltd,   enjoyed another excellent weekend of racing at Oulton Park in the third round of the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship protected by Datatag with Glen Richards taking another race win for the team.

Glen Richards: Top step
With a fourth place in race one by the Australian and strong top ten finishes by Triumph 675 team-mates Billy McConnell and Luke Mossey, the squad left the Cheshire venue with a solid haul of points and with all three riders handily placed in the 12-round Championship.

Richards was the best of the trio in qualifying for Sunday's 10-lap Sprint race and was joined by Mossey on the front row of the grid with McConnell in seventh meaning the team had high hopes for the race. A great start for Richards saw him slot into second place with McConnell and Mossey giving chase and as the race wore on, there were no less than six riders battling it out for the win. Although Glen slipped to the back of the leading pack at mid race distance, he regrouped and fought his way back up to fourth at the chequered flag. Aussie McConnell was just over half a second back in fifth whilst Royston rider Mossey also improved to eighth place for some more solid points.

Glen Richards, on the way!
Richards posted the quickest lap of the team members and so lined up in fourth on the grid for Sunday's longer 16-lap race with McConnell and Mossey a row further back. Although he briefly dropped back, Glen was able to move his way through to the front of the eight-strong group of riders fighting it out for the win and was back in the lead by lap 10. It proved to be the right place to be as the race was stopped prematurely on lap 11 and he was duly awarded the win. McConnell and Mossey were part of the same group and finished in seventh and ninth as less than two and a half seconds separated the leading nine riders.

There was disappointment for Johnny Blackshaw in the Metzeler National Superstock 600cc race when he crashed out on lap 11 after colliding with race leader Josh Wainwright. The Stretton rider had qualified in eighth place for his 14-lap race and had moved through the pack to run inside the top three but just as a podium finish looked likely, Wainwright crashed and Blackshaw had nowhere to go although he luckily escaped injury in the nasty looking spill.

Glen Richards: "It was nice to get the win as I thought I was going to be awarded second place after the race was stopped as I was unsure of the ruling. It's been a solid weekend and there's still a long way to go in the championship so it's important to keep scoring in every race and I'm really pleaed for the team and for Triumph."

Billy McConnell:  "I'm absolutely made up for Glen, Triumph and the team to win but it's not been my best weekend with regards to the championship so we need to come back stronger at the next round at Snetterton."

Luke Mossey:  "I'm a bit disappointed with how the weekend's gone. I had high expectations and the bike's been awesome but I've been struggling a bit and just didn't have the pace to run with the front guys.  I can do one fast lap but have been unable to string them all together so if I can find that consistency I'm sure I'll be running with the front pack."

Rebecca Smith, Team Manager: "It's been a great end to the weekend for us and another fantastic win for the team. Glen got his head down in the second half of the race and was in the lead when it mattered most so it's put us right back in the championship fight. The first race on Sunday was a bit disappointing as the boys had a few small issues which was just enough to hold them back but all three were inside the top eight and scored well. Likewise on Monday although I'm sure if the race had gone full distance both Billy and Luke could have finished higher than what they did.

"It's been a bitter-sweet day though with the unfortunate crash of Johnny's. It wasn't nice to watch and it certainly shook him up but the good thing was that he went all through the weekend without any issues with the bike. There was a bit of pressure riding at his home round but he was running in the front group and was looking good for a podium so it was shame it happened, thankfully he's ok though so can take the positives onto the next round."
